There are several cottages adjacent to Hallrulle farm in the Rule valley. Walter and Catherine Dalgleish occupied one of these cottages for six or more years. One of their longer periods of accommodation.
James Murray was born in a cottage at Hallrule in 1855 and the family of eight was still living here in 1861.
