Timeline bands

The timelines used on several pages employ the framework outlined below.

The aim is to provide a generic-indicative structure across the generations. In some cases the range may be extended by up to +/-10 years where one partner might fall into a different period.

The time relates to the date of birth of an individual.

Early 20th C 1901 - 1933 1901, 1911 census & 1939 Register. Awaiting 1921 census [1931 census was destroyed & no 1941 census].
Late 19th C 1866 - 1900 1871, 1881 & 1891 census
Mid 19th C 1833 - 1866 1841 & 1851 census. Statutory Regisratration starts 1837 for E&W and 1855 Scotland
Early 19th C 1801 - 1833 Only Parish Records of this period & earlier.
Late 18th C 1766 - 1801 Few records of this period
Mid 18th C 1733 - 1766 No records to date of this period

Note: Census are released after 100 years. Living people less than 100 years are redacted in the 1939 register .
