Ynys Llanddwyn - Malltraeth south

Ynys Llanddwyn is too good just to visit once - so this is another circular walk based on the forest car park south of Malltraeth. It follows the Malltraeth estuary from the island - with access or egress to the island through the forest.

October 2012: Traeth Penrhos - & the Malltraeth estuary from Ynys Llanddwyn

The stage is described walking the Anglesey Coast Path clockwise - but can be walked in either direction.

Description of the walk

It is important that tidal conditions are obtained beforehand - since the firm sand of the beach will not be accessible at high tide.

An alternative, but less attractive route, through the forest is available - see the Ordnance Survey Explorer map nos 262 & 263 for the route options.

The walk turns rhe corner of the Malltraeth estuary and after a few hundred metres takes a trun across the grassland and into the forest. Using a map follow the tracks to the car park.

The south west corner of Anglesey is a treasure with sand dunes, pine forests and remote broad beaches. This section of the route takes the walker to the heart of this idyllic place.
